| Troy Herring Studies at Julliard in New York City, NY Born in Idabel, OK & moved to Bartlesville, OK as a baby. He came from middle class parents & grew up doing typical boy things. He liked to go fishing in the neighborhood pond, play sports etc. At the age of eight he auditioned for his first play in local community theater & from that point forward he was bit by the performance bug. He was in many community shows. He played the role of Troy in High School Musical Tulsa, Winthrop in The Music Man, Randolph in Bye Bye Birdie, Gavroche in Les Miserable & many others. He even landed a part as a swing for Cameron Mackintosh’s National Tour of Oliver at the age of ten. He continued to take voice lessons and dance classes as well. Over time Troy realized that his heart really was in dance. He went to various dance studios and camps. In eighth grade his family moved to Owasso, OK which made Tulsa dance studios closer. In 2008 realized he wanted to get involved in competitions. He started competing with his own pieces & found his choreography got first & best choreography in many of the competitions. As a senior Troy began his search for college & was accepted into The Juilliard School. This is a real dream come true, considering that Troy came from a sports obsessed area of the country & from a modest upbringing. Troy feels very privileged to have had a small amount of success thus far. His only wish is continued success in the dance world whether it is as a professionally paid dancer or as a choreographer or better yet both. He is currently a sophomore at The Juilliard School. |
